Learn how to Create Life Changes

If you are reading this, you are likely thinking about seeing a therapist or a life coach. When new clients walk through my door, I say “great! you made it through my door.” Of course, when I greet new clients like this I TRY to put them at ease. But there is truth in what I say. Getting in touch with me and coming in is often a difficult, ANXIETY-PROVOKING experience.

I understand how difficult it is to start working with me. 35 years ago I did the same when I started working with a therapist. If you are reading this and looking to meet with a therapist or life coach, I strongly encourage you to send the text or make the call to the professional you would like to work with.

If you didn’t think a therapist could help, I don’t think you’d be reading this. I remember meeting with a client years ago who asked if I thought his substance use was a problem. “Well,” I said, “if your substance use wasn’t a problem I suspect you wouldn’t be meeting with me today.”

Now may be the time to work on life goals with a coach, or work on alleviating depression or anxiety, or work with your partner on improving your marriage. If you would like to find contentment and happiness, and grow as a person, I encourage you to begin working with a therapist or life coach.

As a therapist I provide psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive therapy within a person-centered framework. This means that I work to provide a non-judgmental environment that allows you to change and grow. I accept you as you are. The focus of sessions is changing your life to what you imagine it to be.

I am not the one who determines which direction to go. We work together to uncover what changes and goals you want to meet in life. I do not tell you what to do. You tell me what you’vE chosen to work on, and I help you to get there. If you are seeking treatment for depression or another mental health struggle, the goal is to lower the intensity of or resolve your emotional struggles.

How it Works

Therapy and coaching can assist you in moving toward what you would consider “a better life”. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, confidential environment that allows you to speak your truth - no matter what it is or how scared or ashamed you may feel about what you need to say.

Clients begin here - unpacking what they have been holding inside for years.  Personal secrets can make you sick. Sometimes your secrets “come out sideways” like a leaky faucet, or in a passive-aggressive way, poisoning your relationships.

If you are working on meeting a goal, life coaching will help you identify what is blocking you from achieving it, and help you identify what steps you need to take to meet your goal. One step toward achieving the goal may include the treatment and resolution of a mental health problem. While working toward your goals in life coaching, you may choose to address certain problems in therapy.

If you are feeling depressed or highly anxious, you may have great difficulty achieving your life coaching goals without first resolving these mental health issues. If this is the case, resolving or reducing emotional struggles will be addressed in therapy.

If you are suffering from a mental health problem such as depression or anxiety, I help you understand how your feeling states are preventing you from meeting your goals. As a therapist, I am a listener, guide, and educator. As a life coach, I assist you in assessing your current life circumstances, choosing your life direction, and help you discover the steps you need to take to achieve your goals.

I have witnessed people change their lives in almost miraculous ways. Together we will work to move you towards greater happiness, contentment, and success. If you could witness what I have as a therapist and coach, you would be amazed. To learn more visit Reaching Life Goals and Who Are You - Really?
